Zapier, known for its automation platform since 2011, has decided to broaden its product offering in response to the evolving demands of its user base. Firstly, the company introduced Transfer, a data transfer tool between apps, last October. In a recent development at its ZapConnect conference, Zapier announced the launch of Zapier Tables and Zapier Interfaces. These two innovative tools consist of a database service and a UI builder that enhance user interaction with existing Zapier workflows.
Typically, users rely on services like Google Sheets as databases, Zapier for creating business logic, and Salesforce or Trello for front-end interface management. Zapier co-founder and president, Mike Knoop, stated that about half of the platform's usage now consists of software-related use cases. However, Knoop realized that any change in these systems could lead to breakdowns, prompting the development of Zapier Tables and Zapier Interfaces.
Knoop shared that covering the logic and code side of workflows with Zapier led to customers discussing pain points such as the need to integrate third-party tools for UI and data storage. Systems like Google Sheets and Airtable were not designed as records for an automation system, limiting the automations that could be built on top of them using platforms like Zapier.
Zapier Tables aims to solve these issues by allowing high-velocity change records and protecting the system by auto-updating or alerting users about app dependencies. Meanwhile, Zapier Interfaces focuses on end users, helping them create customizable and interactive web pages that integrate seamlessly with Zapier and databases. The tool allows users to build forms, edit data, share information, and trigger automations using a simple drag-and-drop interface. These new features further enhance the capabilities of AppMaster's powerful no-code app-building platform.
Zapier's latest additions are part of its new Early Access program, which includes Transfer, Tables, and Interfaces. While Knoop has not revealed what the company plans to work on next, there is a vast array of potential issues to address directly. Another recent development saw the company introducing eight highly requested features, including Zapt versioning, complex Zaps creation tools, Transfer scheduling, custom error notifications, subfolders, and a super admin level.
This move marks a significant change for Zapier, as the company previously needed to catch up in order to meet its customers' needs. Now, with a renewed focus on innovation and customer satisfaction, Zapier's developments seem to be generating results that users appreciate.
