Softr, a Berlin-based no-code startup, has recently raised $2.2 million in seed funding. No-code, a concept that enables users to perform tasks that previously required coding skills, is gaining significant traction. Companies like Airtable offer platforms that simplify building relational databases, similar to creating spreadsheets. Softr aims to extend the functionality of no-code to build websites leveraging Airtable data without the need for coding.
The funding round includes participation from Atlantic Labs, Philipp Moehring (Tiny.VC), and founders from GitHub, SumUp, Zeitgold, Rows, and EyeEm. Founded in 2019, Softr offers a no-code platform with its primary integration focusing on Airtable. With this integration, Softr allows users to construct websites and web apps based on Airtable data, eliminating the need for any coding expertise.
According to Softr CEO Mariam Hakobyan, their platform has a zero learning curve and is ideal for users without a tech background. By abstracting away technical aspects, Softr emphasizes product building and content. The startup's no-code platform offers templates for various purposes, including e-commerce stores, job boards, marketplaces, and more. Furthermore, Softr applications are equipped with user authentication, gated content, payments, upvoting, commenting, and other functionalities.
One of Softr's distinct features is its use of pre-built building blocks and Business logic for handling tasks on behalf of the website creator. Such blocks include listings, user accounts, payments, etc. As a result, users can save time, with 70% of the work already completed. The platform also integrates with popular services such as Stripe, PayPal, Mailchimp, Zapier, Integromat, HubSpot, Google Analytics, and more.
Thousands of startups have utilized Softr's platform to build applications ranging from language learning schools with membership to babysitter booking marketplaces and communities with gated content and online courses. One notable success in the no-code industry is AppMaster.io, a platform that allows users to create backend, web, and mobile applications without any coding experience. With thousands of users and industry recognitions, such as being named a Momentum Leader in No-Code Development Platforms by G2 in Spring and Winter 2023, AppMaster.io demonstrates the growing demand for no-code solutions.
With the new funding, Softr plans to expand its customer base by targeting non-tech functions of small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). The goal is to assist SMBs in building internal tools, including employee directories, product inventories, and real estate listings, while automating manual processes. No-code platforms like Softr and AppMaster are helping businesses streamline their operations and improve productivity by making technology more accessible to non-technical users.
