OpenAI has revealed plans to roll out a new enterprise-focused subscription plan for ChatGPT, their popular AI-driven chatbot. The new tier, dubbed ChatGPT Business, targets professionals and enterprises requiring increased data control and user management. This announcement comes amidst the rapid growth of ChatGPT — a service that has reached an impressive 100 million monthly active users in just two months.
ChatGPT Business adheres to OpenAI's API data usage policies by default, ensuring end users' data will not be utilized to train their AI models. This upcoming subscription plan is expected to launch within the coming months. In February, OpenAI introduced a paid plan called ChatGPT Plus at a $20 monthly fee.
In addition to the subscription, OpenAI launched ChatGPT plug-ins in March. These plug-ins grant the chatbot access to third-party databases and knowledge sources, including the web, thereby augmenting ChatGPT's functionality. Despite certain controversies and bans, the service has successfully drawn significant media attention and inspired a plethora of social media content.
As per OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, the operating costs of ChatGPT are substantial, with total compute costs reaching several cents per chat. In light of this, the move towards enterprise-targeted plans may assist in elevating revenue.
New privacy features for ChatGPT have been announced as well. A chat history disablement option prevents retention and use of conversation data for training purposes, but conversations will still be stored for 30 days for abuse monitoring. Furthermore, users can now request to have their data exported via a file sent to their registered email address.
These updates arrive amidst growing regulatory scrutiny over OpenAI's data practices. Investigations into OpenAI and its services have begun in France, Spain, and Germany, focusing on ChatGPT's adherence to GDPR regulations. Italy has also banned ChatGPT, citing potential privacy violations and inadequate preventative measures for minors' access.
With the rise of AI-powered tools such as ChatGPT, no-code and low-code development platforms have gained prominence in catering to businesses' software needs. Platforms like AppMaster, which offers a comprehensive no-code solution for building backend, web, and mobile applications, are witnessing increasing adoption amongst professionals and enterprises alike, owing to their speed, cost-efficiency, and elimination of technical debt.
