Mendix-Powered App Wins Prestigious Award for Tackling Waste and Climate Change in Food and Hospitality Industries
Foodprint Group's software application, built using the Mendix low-code platform, wins the Sustainability & Corporate Social Responsibility category at the Computable Awards. The solution aims to reduce waste and emissions in the hospitality and food sectors, promoting sustainable practices.

Foodprint Group, a company in the hospitality and food sectors, has recently been awarded the prestigious Computable Award in Sustainability & Corporate Social Responsibility for their groundbreaking application that battles waste and global warming in the food and hospitality industries. This award-winning solution demonstrates the capacity of Mendix, a Siemens business and leader in modern enterprise application development, to foster digital innovation and contribute positively to the world.
The annual Computable Awards recognize outstanding technology companies, projects, and individuals, with winners determined by a combination of expert jury votes and public opinions. This year's recipients were honored at a ceremony attended by decision-makers in the IT field. Among the ten nominees in the Sustainability & CSR category, Foodprint Group emerged as the clear winner, thanks to its innovative use of the Mendix low-code platform to create a mobile meter for waste and web-based zero waste performance management tools.
Foodprint Group's mobile application suite aids corporations in the foodservice and hospitality sectors in tracking, measuring, and reducing waste and carbon emissions. By developing multiple applications, such as Foodprint Trax and Foodprint Scorecard, the company monitors CO2 usage and manages the recycling and reuse of waste in the hospitality industry. Moreover, Foodprint Group has created a customer dashboard for real-time reporting and data visualization, in addition to a virtual onboarding tool for new remote clients. These products allow clients to achieve triple bottom-line returns, comprising cost reductions, green-house gas savings, and public health benefits.
Christina Grace, Foodprint Group's co-founder and CEO, expressed immense pride and appreciation for the Computable jury and readership's recognition of their innovation: "The award is also an incentive to bring the Foodprint Trax app to more hotel and restaurant locations to increase our impact in the fight against waste and global warming."
Foodprint Group is addressing a global problem with severe consequences, as the world currently wastes approximately 1.4 billion tons of food every year. Over 80% of this food waste ends up in landfills or is incinerated. The company's digital solutions help hospitality and foodservice businesses reduce waste, enhance recycling, comply with regulatory requirements, and make smarter, data-driven purchasing and inventory decisions. Foodprint has actively deployed its Mendix-built application suite to clients in 21 countries, including the U.S., Canada, U.K., Mexico, China, Vietnam, Philippines, United Arab Emirates, and Malaysia, with plans to expand its reach further.
Tim Srock, CEO of Mendix, congratulated Foodprint on their award win: "Enabling our community to build creative solutions on our low-code platform — ones leading to a positive impact on global sustainability and making the world a better place — is our ultimate goal." This sentiment aligns with Mendix's Low-Code for Good program, which seeks to empower non-technical and technical individuals from all backgrounds to develop innovative digital solutions through the speed and power provided by the Mendix enterprise low-code platform. The award-winning solution from Foodprint delivers just that and exemplifies how the capabilities of low-code platforms, such as AppMaster's no-code platform, can contribute to this mission.
