Google Reveals Preview of Innovative AI Features for Workspace Users and Developers

Technology behemoth Google has unveiled plans to roll out previews of three state-of-the-art AI features directed at its Workspace users and developers, concentrating on areas such as AI composition, developer prototyping using PaLM and MakerSuite, and verified models for the Vertex AI service.

At present, Workspace features are primarily intended for Docs and Gmail utilization. Users can take advantage of Google's AI to revamp their emails according to specific styles or tones or generate a document from scratch. By requesting the system to create a sales pitch, users are presented with a fundamental document, which they can then modify as per their requirements. The AI can also assist in rephrasing documents for a more formal tone or condensing them for succinctness.

Sid Nag, vice president of Gartner, highlights that these capabilities are an extension of the features Google has been offering for some time. He stated, They've had smart compose forever — that's all part of the language model capability. Now they're taking it to the next level where they're applying the generative AI functionality on top of it.

Besides this, Google's PaLM API plays a significant role in connecting users to its extensive language models for numerous purposes, such as content generation, chat, and general-purpose analysis. PaLM API works in tandem with MakerSuite, which serves as a tool for generating sample code for developers.

These futuristic AI enhancements also target developers and enterprise users, primarily focusing on prototypes, prompt engineering, and custom model fine-tuning. In Nag's words, the PaLM API essentially allows you to quickly prototype ideas.

Another critical component introduced by Google is the new functionality designed for Vertex AI, aimed at enabling companies to create and tailor their own AI applications using Google's technology. The Generative AI App Builder offers users preset templates to generate bots, custom search engines, and digital assistants effortlessly. The generative support coming to Vertex AI empowers users to build and customize in an even more granular manner.

Rowan Curran, a Forrester analyst, expressed that Google's preview launch of its generative AI offerings represents a significant advancement for the Vertex platform. He added that the AI/ML platform market is rapidly adopting generative AI capabilities and that Google's announced functionality aligns with the offerings of other major players in the industry.

According to Google, the new features will be made accessible to trusted testers throughout the year before being made available to the public. And the no-code community is quickly embracing and taking advantage of these advancements. Platforms like AppMaster are also contributing to the rapid development of robust backend, web, and mobile applications harnessing the power of AI without requiring an extensive coding background. With tools like no-code and low-code app development becoming mainstream, AI enhancements are poised to revolutionize the tech industry.
