GoDaddy Integrates Tap to Pay on iPhone for US-Based Merchants, Simplifying Mobile Payments

GoDaddy is now offering Tap to Pay on iPhone, making mobile payments simpler and more accessible for businesses that rely on their services. Following Wix and other leading website builder platforms, the integration of Tap to Pay technology is set to revolutionize the way US-based merchants conduct transactions.

The collaboration between GoDaddy and Apple's Tap to Pay on iPhone presents a hassle-free way for entrepreneurs and small businesses to accept mobile payments. Initially available only to users in the United States, the technology is integrated into the GoDaddy mobile app, eliminating the need for purchasing external point of sale (POS) systems.

Introduced in February 2022, Apple's Tap to Pay service aims to phase out the requirement for additional POS hardware. The move by GoDaddy to join Wix and Stripe in offering Tap to Pay capabilities showcases the growing popularity of seamless and contactless payment options.

With the GoDaddy mobile app installed on a compatible iPhone, business owners can accept a variety of contactless payment methods, including contactless debit and credit cards, Apple Pay, and other digital wallets. Osama Bedier, President of GoDaddy Commerce, revealed that over 50% of in-store purchases are now made via contactless payments, highlighting the significance of providing such options for customers.

Emphasizing GoDaddy's dedication to support merchants regardless of their size, Bedier explained that the inclusion of Tap to Pay on iPhone in the GoDaddy Mobile App allows millions of small businesses to accept in-person payments without the need for additional hardware.

In a company blog post, GoDaddy ensures that neither Apple nor GoDaddy stores card numbers on devices or servers. Moreover, advanced encryption safeguards transactions and users' data. Powered by GoDaddy Payments, the mobile app charges a transaction fee of 2.3% + $0 per in-person transaction.

While GoDaddy is currently focused on delivering its Tap to Pay service to users in the US, an expansion to international markets could be on the horizon.
