As more companies shift from purchasing assets to leasing them in the wake of a challenging economy, the concept of XaaS (everything as a service), also known as “Servitization,” has gained traction. Established players in this sector, such as ServiceNow, provide service automation for enterprise operations. A newer entrant from Germany, Equipme, has entered the scene with an XaaS-focused platform. Equipme recently raised $3.8 million in a seed round led by Berlin-based La Famiglia VC, which has a €250 million fund that we reported on last month. Other participants in the investment round include Lightbird, Anamcara, and angel investors like Ignaz Forstmeier, co-founder of Personio, and Charlie Songhurst, former head of Corporate Strategy at Microsoft. This German XaaS platform features a B2B marketplace and asset management portal that enables suppliers to provide their products and services under a self-service model. Companies can invite their existing service providers to join the platform, thereby expanding their services' availability.

Equipme CEO and co-founder Paul Martin commented on the platform's capabilities in a statement: “For instance, Equipme simplifies the process of equipping employees during the onboarding process, by seamlessly integrating all relevant parties and suppliers, including the employees themselves to select their preferred devices and tools. Subsequently, Equipme takes care of managing inventory, subscriptions, and related costs throughout the entire lifecycle in one central place.” With headquarters in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, Equipme currently serves 500 customers, primarily in the DACH region, and intends to expand its global presence. Founders Alexandre Seifert and Paul Martin established the company in November 2021.

According to Judith Dada, a partner at La Famiglia, “Decision-makers value cost efficiency and flexibility most. This is why Software as a Service has been so successful in recent years.” This growing trend in the "as-a-service" market creates significant opportunities for no-code and low-code platforms.
