Innovative AI App Petey Expands With GPT-4, Apple Music Integration, and More for iPhone Users

Innovative AI App Petey Expands With GPT-4, Apple Music Integration, and More for iPhone Users

Petey, originally designed to bring ChatGPT to Apple Watch users, is expanding its features to iPhone users, offering integration with Apple Music and leveraging AI to create playlists and provide personalized music recommendations. This move showcases how Apple and other companies can employ AI to serve up suggestions within their own applications.

Recently, Petey introduced several changes, including the ability to access the advanced AI model, GPT-4, through a paid subscription tier called “Petey Premium.” It is uncertain whether incorporating AI into their native apps will be part of the iOS 17 update, but nothing has been ruled out.

To utilize Petey's music recommendations feature, users simply input their playlist request in the app's interface. For example, if they search for 90s grunge, expected artists like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, and Soundgarden would appear in the results. The app provides short previews of the recommended songs, allowing users to test them out and add the ones they like to their library or listen to the full version in Apple Music.

The music integration feature also includes a 'Learn More' option, which directs users to NowPlaying, an iOS 'liner notes' app created by Petey's developer, Hidde van der Ploeg, which offers trivia and information about songs, albums, and artists. Launched in 2021, the NowPlaying app serves as a reliable sidekick for Petey, and the new music feature has only made their partnership stronger.

Furthermore, Petey allows users to create AI-generated playlists with custom names, which they can then access and listen to through the Apple Music app. However, it's important to note that users will need an Apple Music subscription, as it does not offer a free tier. Additionally, they will require at least a Basic or Premium subscription to use Petey on iOS or need their own OpenAI API key.

A variety of additional updates are also being introduced along with the Apple Music integration and GPT-4 support, such as different payment methods for the Petey Basic subscription, alternate app icons, and the option to send messages to your iPhone from your Apple Watch. While Petey is available as a free download on the App Store, a subscription is needed to unlock its full suite of features on the iPhone. To date, the popular app has already amassed 24.7,000 installs since its Apple Watch-focused launch on March 8.

With the incorporation of more AI capabilities, like integration with Apple Music and GPT-4, and the expansion to the iPhone, apps like Petey actively demonstrate the advanced potential of AI technologies. It also highlights the possible synergies with established platforms like AppMaster.io, which enables users to build web, mobile, and backend applications more quickly and effectively, thanks to its comprehensive no-code platform.
